How can I extend the life of my water heater?
We suggest a yearly or twice yearly flushing of your water heater to remove any build up that occurs from calcium and minerals found in your water. Tankless water heaters require a mandatory system flushing every year to remain within their manufacturer’s warranty.
How can I lower my water bill?
The largest consumer of water in your house is your water closet, or toilet assembly. Leaks from the main fill valve into the bowl can use over 10 – 20 gallons of water every day they are not treated. Additionally, times of drought can cause your house and the ground around it to shift, causing a break in one of the supply lines.
How long does a water heater last?
Typically, water heaters can last 10 to 16 years. This depends on factors such as usage, hardness of the water, water quality, gas or electric.
As with any piece of equipment, the more involved you are with proper maintenance and usage, the more life you will get out of it.
How do I prevent freezing pipes?
One of the best ways to prevent your exposed pipes from freezing is to insulate them from the elements. if your pipes aren’t reachable, heat tracers can be used to provide a steady stream of mild heat to the pipe.
How do I prep my home for a cold front?
Your water pipes are the key things that going to freeze, especially if they are exposed to the elements. One of the major things we see in this area is the freezing over of a plumbing dock where it connects to your outside irrigation system. Low temperatures can cause the water to freeze and completely shatter the unit.
What food items shouldn’t I put down the sink?
Kitchen sinks are one of the smallest drain openings in your house’s plumbing system. Try not to put anything down your kitchen sink that you don’t want to have to fish back out. Egg shells, pasta, potatoes, citrus rinds, & general food items larger than 1/3 of the diameter of the drain can all cause serious problems to either your plumbing or disposal.
What causes my faucet to drip?
There are several factors at play when trying to diagnose a leaky or dripping faucet. Is your operating pressure above 65 to 80 psi, which is excessive. Your fixtures are only tested to approximately 100 psi, so if it is over that pressure level, they will more than likely wear out faster than normal.
When do I need to get my drain cleaned?
Drain cleaning is one of the most requested services we provide. More often than not, a drain cleaning is necessitated by improper or over-use their garbage disposal. A garbage disposal is not an incinerator. They are made to take light food and finely chop it in order to wash it down the drain. Always remember, less is more when putting things down the sink.
Why does it take so long to get hot water?
First and foremost, this problem is almost completely exclusive to electric water heaters. In an electric water heater, there are two elements; the main element on the bottom of the tank, and a secondary element at the top of the tank that acts as somewhat of a backup. When the main element goes out, you will start experiencing problems with the amount of time it takes you to get hot water back after a long shower.
